Banksy DIY vinyl

I like sculpts on these. They’ll make a nice canvas for the people that do the vinyl painting.

Richard Sala – Cloak and Dagger

Cloak and Dagger was one of those 80’s Marvel ideas that was great on paper but never really worked well in a story. The character designs were so awesome that they generated terrific pinups, though. I’m a Richard Sala fan. An original piece from him is one of my goals for ComiCon this year.

Spotify playlist, Q1 2013

spotify2013Q1

I started another Spotify playlist of songs that I’m into. I did the same thing for Q4 last year. It’s mostly new stuff but that’s not a terribly strict rule. If it’s new to me and I’m into it, it goes on the list. I’ll keep adding to it through the quarter so if you subscribe you should get the changes as they happen. I think. I’m not well-versed on the social elements of Spotify.

The Bronx

bronx4

I’m not a superfan of The Bronx’s music but the quality of this album cover cannot be denied.

“The Unholy Hand”, off of this album, is a killer.

Jim James, “State of the Art (A.E.I.O.U.)”

I don’t know anything about My Morning Jacket‘s music. They’re another band that I just never made time for. I know people are into them. I also know that Jim James is their lead singer and this is the first song on his new solo album. It’s terrific, IMO, but the rest of what I heard didn’t grab me like this one did.

RCC/GroundForce IT Snowflake Ride, 2013

snowflakeride

2nd Annual Snowflake Ride from RCC this afternoon. Met up with some of the folks from our normal Sunday Rides and rode to Ashland and back. A terrific hook for this ride was that they offered soup and bread and beer at the end. There must have been 30 Crock Pots with different soup, bags of bread, a couple of apple pies, and tubs full of iced-down beer. Solid times.

As far as the ride went, I was okay for the first time on my bike in a month. My lungs were good thanks to all of the running I’ve been doing. My legs got heavy and tired at the end, though. Running is just different so its not a one-to-one benefit. Still, I didn’t pull anything and I banked enough calories to enjoy a couple of helpings of soup bread and beer. I hope this marks the start of steady Sunday Rides again. I like them.

10k Training, 2nd Group Run

10krun292013

2nd group run was tough. I’m not used to this many miles in a week yet so I’m trying to be easy with it. I’ve got a (relatively) strong 2- or 3-mile pace but longer than that I will end up hurting myself if I try to go hard. My plan this week was to start out slower and then hit a good pace groove in the middle. I never got there. I blew myself out badly on that hill there in the third mile and never recovered. I’m not discouraged because I know it’s early days on the training and I’ll end up being fine. (I still spent a couple of hours being disappointed in my pace, though)

Long. Live. A$AP.

asap2

Full-length followup to 2011’s Live Love A$AP. mixtape that I played the hell out of. It’s another really good album. The Skrillex-produced song works even though it seems like an odd pairing. “Fashion Killer” is basically just him name-dropping every single designer he can think of over a nice beat and it definitely works. The only song I skip is the one with verses by guys I don’t like (Yellawolf and Action Bronson). The rest of this album, if you like this kind of thing, is great.

Beard Token

I got my Beard Token back in the fall but had to let my beard come in a bit before posting a photo. Whiskerino may be gone but beard fun remains good fun.
