Nathan Barley

On recommendation from Mr. Eades I checked out “Nathan Barley“, a 6-episode show on BBC from 2005. It’s a weird and bitingly funny send up of hipster idiots. While I am too old to have lived in and among this particular brand of hipster, I know their work very well. The show has a weird pacing but once you get into what’s happening it’s a good time.

This clip does a nice job of laying out the broad strokes but embedding is disabled. You should click through to check it out.

If you have a way of using the internet to find shows and other things to watch I would recommend looking this one up. There are some good laughs to be had.

Todd Margaret

I finally got around to watching the second half of the first season of “The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret“. It was just 6 episodes, and the rumor is that at least 8 more more have been picked up by IFC for a second season. That’s good news. The clip here is from the 6th episode, so you know what’s coming and you just have to cringe into it as it happens.

You can buy the episodes at iTunes or amazon, but I have to figure they will run them all again on IFC at some point. Recommended.

SI – 32 Great Calls

I’m not sure where I found this link, but this list of 32 great sports calls is a must-watch if you like sports on tv. I remember watching a couple of these as they happened and the rest are all Big Moments In Sports so the gooseflesh factor is very high.

Tiger chipping in is so great and the clip is even greater because one of the announcers doesn’t give him much of a chance to even get it close:

“Down goes Frazier!” is something my dad has used as a punchline for as long as I can remember. It’s good to hear Cosell say, too, but my dad’s version is the Standard.

“Regular Show” was recommended by a friend’s kids as “really funny. You’re going to love it, Mr. Flynn”. They’re right. It’s pretty damn funny, in an absurd cartoon sort of way. Here’s the first episode:
