Halotography

I know, not the best name for it, but that’s what he calls them so I will play along.

Apparently they’re all photoshopped from real, in-game Halo3 screenshots. There are lots of cool ones in there. Take a look. I’m not the biggest fan of the game, but the multimedia capabilities are freaking sweet.

[thanks, JP]

NFL2k5 makes the 360 backwards-compat list, finally!

It’s in the list! It’s in the list!.

This makes my day. Seriously. That is my favorite Xbox game, and now I can play it on the 360. I don’t have to keep the old Xbox1 anymore!

Halo 3 gets a thumbs-up from me.

There is a lot to like about the new Halo, but the best thing so far (and by a mile-ed.) is the thing where the last 25 multiplayer and campaign games are archived on the bungie.net servers for you to go and replay. Then when you’re watching, if you see something awesome, you can snag a screenshot and upload it to share

Here are my shared items.

Or, and this is the coolest part, you can carve whole clips out of the game to upload and share.
The clips aren’t accessible via the internet yet, you need to download and view them through your 360, but I can’t imagine it will be too long before we can get a couple of hours of play in on a Tuesday night and spend Wednesday talking junk and breaking down film online.

Belowyou will see me exacting some sweet rocket-flavored revenge after crmjolnir killed my teammate. And the best part about the screenshot is that you can’t see that the rocket also killed me in the process. I’m really not that good at this game.

I got your back, e.

Defending the base

MIT’s known for pranks, or hacks, against rival school Harvard (and sometimes even on their own campus). Their latest hack today enhances the John P. Harvard statue with a battle-ready Master Chief Spartan helmet and assault rifle (with a bullet count of 2E) in honor of Halo day.

Take-Two Game Has O.J. Simpson — and a Knife

A game trailer on the Game Trailers Web site shows Simpson game highlights as his team, “The Assassins,” moves down the field. Toward the end of the clip, Simpson scores a touchdown, prompting a large hooded mascot (above) above the scoreboard to make stabbing motions with a large knife.

Remember, kids

Ethan doesn’t hate Apple. Ethan doesn’t hate Nintendo.

Ethan hates Sony.

Reposted in its entirety from Joystiq:

It’s one step forward and a giant lurch back as Sony is poised to pull the plug on their 60GB PlayStation 3. You know, the same PlayStation 3 that they generously shaved $100 dollars from earlier this week.

In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, SCEE president David Reeves casually mentioned the end of the 60GB model when asked if they would offer the European market a lower priced model, as SCEA did here in the States.

“Well, they’re not really are they, because what the US are offering from the 1st of August is a USD $599 version with one game.”

Reeves goes on to say that SCEA marked it down to move and that once it’s gone, it’s gone. When asked for the dreaded confirmation as to if this was the end of the 60GB model, Reeves replied “In America, yes.”

Now don’t you feel silly for quitting that second job

UPDATE: Sony’s backpedaling. Maybe. Joystiq is following it.

360 Chatpad, $30 and due September 4th

Here’s the product page.

I am totally down with this. Text input is maddening with the current setup and this new gizmo is supposed to fit into the existing controller seamlessly, plus it comes with a new headset. Now there is a reason to install Windows Messenger (but it will only be for 360 use).

yes, Pac-Man.

Tycho at Penny Arcade planted the seed last week when he wrote:

“If Pac-Man CE remains on Live Arcade only it will be a criminal act, and I will work to bring these evil men to justice. I downloaded the demo expecting disposable content, consistent with the necrophilia on display elsewhere in the classic coin-op section. After one round, this demo I grabbed explicitly to revile had become a sale, and a week later it is an obsession and perhaps even a lifestyle…It’s absolutely critical that you grab the demo, at the very least. You’ll be surprised by its vitality and relevance.”

I know he’s given to hyperbole so I swallowed that grain of salt. Plus, I rarely download any demos. 80% of my video game time is spent playing Gears of War with the guys, and the other 20% is split between Tiger Woods and Guitar Hero II. My game time is at a premium, so while I was waiting to get a GoW game together on Friday I, with an assist to the nice people at Anheuser Busch, downloaded the Pac Man C.E. demo.

PacMan C.E.

It was so damn good I bought it and it was all I played this weekend. BIG FUN. There are a lot of elements that are unique to the C.E. version (you can see them listed here) but the main ideas: run, eat, run more; are all classic PacMan.

If you ever enjoyed any of the Pac Family of games you should definitely check out this demo.
