“The Killer” by Jacamon & Matz

I spent some time this weekend reading all 10 issues of “The Killer” by Jacamon and Matz. It’s a French comic and the translated issues have trickled out over the last couple of years. I bought and read the first two and enjoyed them enough to stay on board for the whole thing. I didn’t read any past those two issues, though, because these things usually read better when you can knock them out in one bite.

I don’t know if something was (literally) lost in translation, but the promise of those early issues didn’t pay off over the rest of the run. It started as a kind of introspective twist on the loneliness/breakdown of a hitman but just fell apart into bad cliché and muddy plot points. I don’t know if there were bits edited out or whatever, but the whole thing kind of fell apart for me. Oh well. At least I waited 3 years to get them all together…
