Attack on the Front Lawn!*

This is the box I built to do some planting in the front yard.

We’ve been working with the Square Foot Gardening plan for our vegetable garden this year. The standard boxes are built with 2×6 boards, and that’s fine for just about everything except carrots. I went with 2×12 boards for the front yard box so we could grow some full-size carrots this summer and then again this winter. We’re also planning on getting some flowering plants in there as well. I think the 2×12 makes for a more attractive box, too. Gotta keep it classy in the front yard, knowhatimean?

I’ll get some photos of our veggie boxes and an update on how the front yard goes as events warrant.

*I’m not trying to convert the front yard to full-time food production or anything, but Attack on the Front Lawn is a great idea. Thanks, Cait!
