Threadless Thriftee

Here’s an interesting idea.

A short-sleeve tee - in a randomly selected design, in a randomly selected size - is pulled from our catalog and displayed on the homepage. It’s the ONLY ONE available for $10. Whoever acts the fastest gets it. Once that one randomly selected design in a randomly selected size is sold, a new randomly selected design in a randomly selected size is available as the $10 Thriftee. This process will repeat F-O-R-E-V-E-R.

Man, they are going to sell a million (more) of these things. Those Threadless dudes are smart.

The new highspeed.

Got my FiOS installed just now.

It’s super-fast(er). Now I just need to find someone with the FiOS to download a file from so I can see the stream at max speed (or as close as it gets in real life).

A few more days…

I would highly encourage anyone who reads this blog to hop over to the Whiskerino on November 1st and get into the beard-growing spirit. Well, anyone but my wife. Sweetheart, please don’t grow a beard.

Thank you.

New Pr0nz!

New Pr0nz!

Ronan and I hit the road last night to see The New Pornographers last night up at the 9:30 Club in Washington DC. It’s the first time in a while that the whole studio band was out on tour. The show sold out before the tickets went on sale, but Ronan got the hookup on a pair of tickets so we were obligated to go.

I was excited to hear that Neko Case is everything she sounds like on cd. Her voice is huge, and it works so well with Carl Newman and Dan Bejar on stage that it almost seemed impossible. Bejar seemed drunk half the night (and never hungry because he kept coming out with a sandwich) but his songs and voice struck me as the most interesting. I need to go find some Destroyer records…somewhere.

I am aging

Also: ABC’s marketing staff needs some direction.

So, I’m watching the intro to last night’s Saturday Night Football (Ohio State at Penn State), and the MNF-esque music intro is headlined by… Perry Farrell.

Seriously? Perry Farrell? I guess nothing speaks to college football fans like an effete 150-pound man who makes stagemate Mary J. Blige look beefy and masculine.

ETA photo, just so you can see how ludicrous.

Nate Duval makes pretty posters

Magnolia Electric Company

Nate Duval is one of my new poster faves. That Magnolia Electric Company poster above looks like a giant postcard and is as impressive as hell in person.

This Wilco poster is especially interesting because there isn’t any line art. It’s all color, man….so many colors…

There is plenty more to see (and buy) at his site’s store.

The Thaw Session

The Thaw Session

NME reports:

“”We all decided,” Richard Ashcroft told us, “That rather than meeting for a cup of coffee or a beer or whatever, we should meet in a studio where we can do what we do. Straight away.”"

If you go to that page there’s a link you can get to download the first 14 minutes of new Verve recorded in 10 years. I’m a hardcore Verve nerd so this is damn exciting news to me. I will let you know what I think of it after I give it some proper attention.

Bicycle Guardians

These are some sweet-looking playing cards.

Yes, playing cards. But you should check out that link. They’re sold out there and are already commanding 6x original retail on ebay. Crazy.

Needless to say, I’d like to get my hands on a deck.
