Like any self-respecting music snob I make a yearly Best of… list and I invariably struggle with what to put on there. So it’s always a treat when an album comes out that will make it on that list from the first listen. LCD Soundsystem have made cool music for a while. Sound of Silver is their latest full length and it’s terrific. You should also check out their “45:33″ for the Nike/iPod Run series (only available at iTunes).
In case you don’t know, it’s electronic/DJ music with a lot of vocals. It’s a little tricky to describe without you hearing it but I think it’s great.

North American Scum” is completely dance-able and socially scathing. It’s a tasty treat. Enjoy.

this is definitely on my end of the year list as well. in describing it, i’d add the following touchstones (in addition to yrs.)- late 70’s bowie/eno, the funkiest moments of the talking heads, maybe a little rockist new order.

Hardly surprising to you since I bought this on the day it came out and immediately made sure you had it in your grubby paw, but this is amazing. It will take a lot of work to knock this off my #1 spot for the year.
Some of the reviews questioned its lack of evolution from the last album but this guy is so good and the lyrics so funny that I don’t see where he is supposed to evolve to. Pure genius.
