The Arcade Fire (their site is awesome-looking and worth spending some time clicking through) are huge and they deserve it. You don’t need me to tell you that. Neon Bible is their latest album and while it’s not the staggering achievement that Funeral was it deserves the high praise it has received.
One thing that surprised is me is the apparent influence of Bruce Springsteen (I would have linked you to his site but it has a really loud music element that starts when you load the page). In particular, it’s the Springsteen delivery that shows up from time to time on this album and it gives the familiar feel to some of these songs. I’d hardly call myself a superfan of The Boss but I really enjoyed that.
‘
(Anitchrist Television Blues)‘ is maybe the most ‘Springsteen’ of the songs on Neon Bible and I am as surprised as anyone to tell you that I love it because of that. I hope you like it. Enjoy.

i haven’t exactly warmed up to this one. i listened to it alot the first week or so after i got it and thought it was solid. it flows pretty well. the no cars go song is on par with their best. but i do feel a little dissapointed. it just seems to lack the passion that funeral had. i’ll have to give it some more spins.

Coming off of ‘Funeral’, just about anything would be a little disappointing, IMO. We still spin that one here at Chez Flynn. It’s a modern classic.
