Sweden’s The Sounds have a pretty good record in Dying To Say This To You. It’s not going to save your life or anything, but it’s a good, quick (35 minutes) listen. It hits several of the standard pop touchstones: guitar hooks, New Order-ish synth stabs, and a sassy/sexy female lead singer to boss you around. It’s derivitave without aping the bands it’s inspired from. That doesn’t happen too much these days. Plus it was only $9 at Target. For $9 I’ll give anything a listen. See how easy that is RIAA? Decent music was offered at a good price so I bought it. Shocking, no?
Tony the Beathas my favorite bit on the album. When you get close to the 2-minute mark the song almost turns into a dance remix of itself. It’s pretty cool.
