Nice 6 #3

I’m a big fan of electronic music, too. The DJs that create those soundscape albums, especially. DJ Shadow is one of my all-time favorite artists. Homeboy makes cool-sounding music. The NOBODY song on the mix is a cover of an amazing Zombies song that some of you long-time readers might remember me blathering about a while back.
I also slid a couple of up-tempo numbers in there. Kish Kash was a great, great album that slipped under my radar when it first came out. If you like to dance it’s worth a iTunes sampling. ‘Tribulations’ got stuck in my head because it’s on the PGR3 soundtrack. I still don’t get tired of it. And that Chemical Brothers song has a killer killer killer organ loop that, now that I have played it again, will be stuck in my head for a month. Enjoy

1) This Will Be Our Year - NOBODY
2) Little Fluffy Clouds - Orb
3) Organ Donor (Extended Overhaul) - DJ Shadow
4) Cish Cash (Featuring Siouxsie Sioux) - Basement Jaxx
5) Tribulations - LCD Soundsystem
6) Get Up On It Like This - Chemical Brothers

So it’s not just my imagination.

Soaring Pollen Counts Spur Worst Allergy Season in Years.

I have been killed by allergies this year. I have never, ever been this sniffly/sneezy/snotty in any allergy season ever. I was convinced that I had turned into one of those people that has to mow the lawn with a mask on. I still might be someday, but at least I have an explanation for this year.

popurls.com

Kevin Kelly’s Cool Tools has a really nice one today. popurls.com is a meta-meta aggregator.

“This single page now replaces my need to directly read Digg, Reddit, Delicious, Furl, Slashdot, BoingBoing, NewsVine, Metafilter and all the others that I subscribe too. This one page encapsulates up-to-the-minute headlines from 15 consensus filters, and top thumbnail images from the social sites Flickr, YouTube, and Google Video. The hive mind on one screen.”

I don’t use a newsreader. Most of the blogs I read I visit to check out the design as much as for the content. Popurls, however, is something I will definitely use for all of the link-generator sites. I’m not missing a lot of design by reading an aggregate of Fark, del.icio.us, boingboing, et. al.

More You Tube madness

Dragon’s Lair played in it’s entirety from start to finish.

This game was impossible. I probably didn’t spend more than $4-5 dollars on it but I would watch dudes spend a lot more than that. It was one of the first $.50 games, as I recall, so it was expensive up front plus the $.25 to keep continuing. Way too rich for my blood.

‘Crazy’ on Top of the Pops

Top of the Pops used to be one of our favorite things to watch on BBC America. It was really the only time I was going to get to see bands like Verve or Oasis play live on television. I miss that.

Especially now that Gnarls Barkley is on there. See video of the performance here.

I can’t wait for this to come out in the US. (May 9th)

1986 World Series, RBI Baseball style

The video is here.

Basically, this dude played out Game 6 of the 1986 World Series in RBI Baseball. The video is the bottom of the 10th inning.

It is brilliant. The internet is the best.
