Your Camera Does Not Matter

This is a terrific essay. I’m constantly looking for results in the tools so it really hits home with me.

Kottke was clearing out the year’s best links and that was one of them.

This is awesome, I overlooked it on kottke. My sister took a bunch of pics in Croatia with a Lomo camera, which are Russian placstic hulks reknowned for the cool images that these “crappy” cameras take. They have a fisheye lens one out that I want to grab, it is a whopping fifty bucks. I think there is a Lomo culture out there where a bunch of their users post pics.

Michelle works with a guy who has one. A couple of years ago we borrorwed it. I took a bunch of pictures. It’s really cool. They are tough little hunks of plastic.

Emma has one. It takes 4 exposures on a 35mm frame in rapid succession. It’s pretty cool.

Lomography isn’t digital enough for me right now.

But it *sounds* better on vinyl.

Ask anyone. Especially Chris.
