This is pretty geeky, but totally in a 1979 hip-hop vein.
It’s a crazy, crazy collection of hip hop show fliers from New York dating from around ’78-’81. I recognize a lot of the names, mostly from shout-outs on rap records I heard in the mid-late 80′s. All of the 70′s Godfathers are there: Grandmaster Flash, Afrika Babaataa, Jazzy Jay, Spoonie Gee, DJ A.J. And then the heavy hitters of the late 80′s are there, too, Kurtis Blow, RUN DMC, LL Cool J (on the flier as LL Cool Jay) but there are so many more that I had never even heard of. It’s a cool thing. Check this out!
I also had fun using Google Maps to find the blocks they had these parties on.

Yeah, this was the first time I used it. It’s a slick app.
