I’m in a couple of fantasy football leagues this year:
I’m in a money league with my friend Bob. Most of the other guys are also from the golf trip I go on every summer. There’s a pretty steep entry fee and all transactions have a fee so the year-end payouts are pretty nice if you do well. We mopped up the first year, broke even the second, and then last year we got smoked. Hopefully this year we can get back into the black.
I also joined a Yahoo league with the fine folks over at the WFE. It was an auto-draft, but I like my team so I’ll likely keep up with it during the season. I think this might be the first year for some of these guys so I should do well, but there’s never any way to know. The good news for me is that I lucked out and got Randy Moss and Kevin Jones in the auto draft.
It’s lucky because those two guys are my big bets in the league I care most about, The PRF. The PRF has been together for 12 years and it’s mostly people I’ve known for at least that long. It’s a keeper auction league. We have a hard salary cap and we get players via auction instead of a draft. Most of the owners are pretty football savvy so it’s tough to get a guy under the radar. Plus it’s a low-stakes league so it plays as a low-pressure league. I am a little totally obsessive about how I do in this league. I like my team a lot and I think I have a legit shot at winning my division.
I can’t wait for football to start.
