Review: Sleeper Vol. 2

Finished Sleeper Volume 2: “All False Moves” the other night. This is going to be a boring review.

This book is excellent. It continues the story of Holden Carver, a super-powered intelligence agent tasked with infiltrating the world’s premier organized crime cartel. Problem is, the only guy on the side of the angels who knows he’s not a traitor is in a coma. And the (bad) guy he’s working for is unnaturally smart. Scary smart.

I don’t know how I can build on what I wrote last time, except that now I realize that volume one was all setup for this. And that’s a bit of a surprise because usually setup=boring. You kinda tap-tap-tap your feet waiting for the story to just get on with it! I guess what I’m saying is that Brubaker & Phillips’ work is on an upward spiral here. I give this an A.
