Safe As Milk

This is a true funk artifact from 1970. It’s an unreleased album from the L.A. Carnival that has been issued by the fine folks at Stones Throw’s Now-Again Records. I have yet to hear a release form Stones Throw that I haven’t totally dug. Last year’s Funky 16 Corners was one of my favorites of 2003.

Here is the AMG review. They’re right when they say that, “The band shifts effortlessly between both cutting and more lighthearted funk experiments, jazz phrasing, soulful vocals, and a pastiche of amorphous psychedelia that unifies it all.”
