PRF Auction 2003!

On Sunday, the 24th, we had our auction for the 2003-4 football season. Sunday morning at 9 am wasn’t first choice for a start time but I think we made the most of it.

Thanks to JP for hosting and making the whole thing work. Thanks to AM for helping Unca’ Jeffy stay plugged in. And, of course, thanks to Luke for looking damn fine as the auctioneer.

beer? at 10 am?

Please ignore the fact that the photographer appears to have forgotten to remove the bottle of beer from the immediate foreground of the photo.

I didn’t have a very good auction, IMO. I grossly undervalued a few of my RFA’s and I did the same with what I thought other owners would pay to keep their players. Here was my gut reaction to my efforts in yesterday’s auction:

I really blew it yesterday. Not keeping C-Pep at $19 was a huge mistake. I thought that number was $3-4 too high and I wanted to keep as much powder dry as possible to run at Harrison or Dillon. I was *very* surprised to see JG keep Harrison at $27. I got rattled by Shockey and George going for so much more than I figured they would, and by then the field was bare. I’m pretty bummed with my team. The only guys I really like are Coles and Jones. Smith might end up being okay but I’m not crazy about his price. It had just gotten to a point where I needed to get *someone*. I guess Brad Johnson might work out, but only if the Gruden System comes through as advertised.
